Eero Kallio The Known World & Raging Swan Press The current year for our homebrewed campaign setting is set during 672 CY (Common Year). Inspired By Gary Gygax

Eero Kallio is a human mercenary in Dulwich who previously guarded lumber caravans and now seeks steadier employment. Dependable with a spear and shield, he is accustomed to long journeys, exposed campsites, and keeping watch while others sleep. He approaches his work with quiet practicality, checking equipment carefully and preferring clear arrangements over ambitious promises. Fair treatment earns his loyalty, but Eero expects those giving orders to share the dangers they ask others to face.

Campaign Maps Duchy of Ashlar Region Map

"Welcome to the mysterious Known World, a land of ancient mystery and high adventure. As you enter these ancient lands, you step into an original sandbox of fantasy roleplaying, where the line between hero and mercenary is thin. In this world, the wilderness is very unforgiving, demanding real grit from those who wish to survive in it.

From the corrupt streets of ancient cities, to the depths of the ruins of long forgotten dungeons, political intrigue is as lethal as a dragon’s breath. Whether seeking ancient lost magic or defying the dark corners of the realms, your choices will shape the world as you know it.

You "the adventurer and hero" will walk the paths of legendary figures, navigating a landscape scarred by power struggles and shifting power. The Known World does not hand out glory freely—it is earned through steel, arcane magic, and the alliances that you forge against the growing darkness. Sharpen your blade, prepare your spells and ready your wits; your journey into the heart of adventure begins right now . . ."

« Old-School Essentials »

Old-School Essentials is a tabletop role-playing game that builds upon the core rules of the B/X Essentials, B/X and BECMI game systems (even leaning into the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons system). It incorporates elements and options from Advanced Dungeons & Dragons "1st Edition", such as additional classes, races, spells, and monsters, while maintaining the simpler, more streamlined rules of Basic/Expert "B/X" D&D.

Key features:
Old-School Essentials is a retroclone, meaning it's designed to emulate the feel and mechanics of older versions of Dungeons & Dragons.

• B/X Foundation: It retains the core mechanics and feel of the original B/X D&D, which was popular in the 1980s and is still widely played to this day.
• AD&D Integration: It includes optional rules, classes, races, and spells from AD&D 1st Edition, allowing players to experience a wider range of character options and game elements.
• Character Variety: Players can choose from a broader array of character classes and races, including options like drow, duergar, gnome, and half-elf, among many others.
• Expanded Content: It includes additional magical items, spells, and monsters, adding more depth and complexity to the game.
• Flexible Gameplay: The game offers optional rules for character creation, combat, and spell acquisition, allowing for a more tailored experience.
• Modern Layout: Necrotic Gnome uses a modern layout and clear presentation, making it very easy to learn and even reference during play.
• House Ruling: With it being completely compatible with other systems like 1st edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, BECMI, BX D&D and "to an extent" Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition it is easy to include house rules, mechanics and outside rules from these systems.
